FAQs

Orders & Account

Everything you need to know about placing, changing, and managing your order.

We currently ship to the United States and Japan. Worldwide expansion is on the way — sign up for our newsletter to be notified when we launch in your region.

Simple: we design our own frames, work directly with our lens labs, and skip the middlemen and retail markups. You get the same premium materials and craftsmanship for a fraction of the traditional optical-shop price.

Prescription lenses take 3–4 business days to produce, and 7–21 business days to reach you depending on your shipping selection. You'll receive a confirmation email when your order is placed and a tracking link once it ships.

You'll need a clear photo or scan of your prescription (issued within the last 2 years) and your PD (pupillary distance) measurement. Both can be uploaded during checkout.

Because we begin production quickly to keep delivery times short, cancellations are only accepted within 12 hours of purchase. If your order has already shipped, you can return the glasses once they arrive — see our return policy below.

We'll do our best to accommodate changes if production hasn't started. Email support@primeparticle.com with your name, order number, and the change you'd like to make.

Yes — for corporate gifting, events, or wholesale, please reach out to support@primeparticle.com before placing an order. We're happy to discuss volume pricing and lead times.

Every order ships with a refillable glasses case and a microfiber cleaning cloth — on the house.

We don't currently partner with insurance providers, but we're happy to provide a detailed itemized invoice that you can submit to your provider for reimbursement. Just email support@primeparticle.com after your order.

Click the "Forgot your password?" link on the sign-in page, and we'll email you a reset link. If you have trouble, contact our support team for help.

Prescription

Submitting your Rx, measuring your PD, and getting the right lenses for your eyes.

Visit any local optician or eye doctor for a comprehensive eye exam. Be sure to ask for a copy of your prescription that includes your PD (pupillary distance). The prescription should list: SPH (sphere) for both eyes, CYL (cylinder) and AXIS values if applicable, and PD — the distance between your two pupil centers in millimeters.

No problem — you can measure it at home. Have a friend hold a millimeter ruler across your brow and measure the distance between your two pupil centers. The average PD is around 63 mm, with most people falling between 54 and 74 mm.

We can still help. For prescriptions beyond our standard range, a surcharge of $45 USD per pair applies. Email support@primeparticle.com with your prescription and we'll confirm whether we can fulfill it.

Yes. Choose the "Prescription" option on any frame's product page, and you'll see additional options including bifocal and progressive lenses.

We strongly recommend ordering with a prescription from the last 2 years. Eye-care professionals advise comprehensive eye exams every 6–12 months to catch any vision changes or developing conditions early.

Frames & Lenses

Material, fit, lens types, and how to choose what's right for you.

Yes — we offer professional photochromic lenses that darken automatically in sunlight and clear up indoors. You'll see them as an upgrade option when selecting your lenses.

Lay an existing frame flat on a table and use a millimeter ruler to measure:
1. Lens width — across one lens at its widest point
2. Bridge width — between the two lenses
3. Temple length — from the hinge to the tip of the temple, including the curve behind the ear.
Match these to the dimensions listed on each Prime Particle frame.

Our lenses are made from lightweight, impact-resistant resin with built-in UV protection. They're significantly lighter than glass lenses while still being highly durable.

The right lens depends primarily on your prescription strength. Stronger prescriptions benefit from a higher refractive index (1.67 or 1.74), which keeps the lens thin and light. We'll guide you through the options at checkout based on your prescription.

Spherical lenses are thicker and can cause slight image distortion. Aspherical lenses, at the same prescription, are thinner, lighter, and provide a wider, more natural field of view — and they're more comfortable for all-day wear.

Tinted lenses have a single, fixed color that stays the same indoors and outdoors. Photochromic lenses are clear indoors and darken outdoors in response to UV light. Polarized lenses have a fixed tint and an additional filter that cuts glare from reflective surfaces — they offer the strongest UV protection of the three.

Single-vision lenses correct for one distance only — far, intermediate, or reading. Progressive lenses combine multiple prescriptions in a single lens, letting you see clearly at all distances without switching pairs.

We sell lenses and frames as a set. Older frames may have warped or stretched slightly with use, which can prevent new lenses from sitting correctly. We recommend pairing new lenses with new frames every 12–18 months for the best fit and visual clarity.

The higher the refractive index, the thinner and lighter the lens at the same prescription, and the higher the light transmission. We offer 1.56, 1.61, 1.67, and 1.74 options — for stronger prescriptions, we recommend 1.67 or 1.74 for a noticeably slimmer lens.

Progressive lenses combine multiple prescriptions in one frame, so a short adjustment period (usually a week or two) is normal. The top of the lens is for distance, the middle for intermediate (like screens), and the bottom for reading. Stick with one design while adapting, take breaks if your eyes feel tired, and avoid rapid head movements while you adjust. After a few days, your eyes will automatically find the right zone.
